10 Illegal Buildings Along Jalan Bungur Torn Down

Around 30 Satpol PP personnel tore down 10 illegal buildings stood atop a drain, Jalan Bungur, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, Thursday (2/5). Most of those buildings are used as food business.

"We'll act decisively to those who use or build the buildings on the drains," stressed South Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Tri Kurniadi.

According to Kurniadi, the building owners have violated the Bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order. "We tear down the buildings to smoothen water flow in the drain and anticipate inundation during rainy season," he explained.

On the other hand, Kebayoran Lama Sub-District Vice Head, Endang Efendi explains besides Jalan Bungur, Satpol PP personnel also commanded to raid street vendors alongside Jalan Bendi. "This is because the vendors open stalls on the sidewalk," uttered Efendi.
